Biostimulants are products derived from organic matter and containing bioactive substances that improve crop productivity. When applied to the soil or directly to the plant via foliar applications, biostimulants activate metabolic and molecular processes. They promote greater nutrient uptake and efficiency, enhance tolerance to abiotic stress, and lead to increased yields and improved crop quality.
ABIOTIC STRESS?
Abiotic or environmental stress refers to unfavorable conditions caused by non-biological factors that compromise crop development and productivity. Examples include drought, salinity, heat, cold, hail, flooding, root asphyxia, toxicity or nutrient deficiencies, radiation, and pollution.
These stresses are among the main causes of yield reduction, typically affecting crops by 2% to 6%. However, due to climate change and the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, yield losses from abiotic stress can reach up to 70%.
In modern agriculture, using products that improve plant resistance to abiotic stress—such as drought or excessive rainfall—is essential.
WHAT IS STIMOLO?
STIMOLO® is a 100% plant-based biostimulant by Fertenia, with a targeted action on both plants and soil. It is derived from alfalfa, seaweed, and plant extracts rich in low molecular weight amino acids, potassium, and betaines. Compared to animal-based products, STIMOLO® contains a higher level of L-amino acids, the only form absorbable by plants—and ensures fast penetration into plant tissues. When applied regularly throughout the crop cycle, it stimulates and accelerates growth.
